In Les Sages, large-format photographs of trees are materialised by Tristan Sidem and Raphaël Lebas de Lacour through oxydotype, a Maison Picturale process on glass with controlled copper oxidation. The result turns vegetal memory into a mineral, one-of-a-kind photographic object.
Studio Q&A
Why are Les Sages printed on glass?
The glass support gives the series a mineral presence and preserves the pigmented resin layer without paper deformation. It also allows the copper oxidation to become part of the visual field.
Why is each work unique?
The interaction between UV exposure, pigmented resin and copper oxidation cannot be repeated identically. Each plate carries its own chemical event.
